Spring Cleaning for your PC

messageimage1It's that time of year, the tulips are coming up,and we are fighting to get every last dust bunny out of the house. In this whole process of spring cleaning the computer system is regularly forgotten, it's disk space is being taken up by programs that haven't been used in over a year, and the desktop is littered with files that you have been meaning to organize but just haven't gotten the chance. This a great time to start taking some steps that may help speed up your computer, get it back into gear for summer. Below are some different things you can to do help keep your computer in peak condition all year around.

  • Organizing files into folders.

If you save all your files in a single folder, it can quickly become cluttered, making it hard to locate specific files when you need them.   • Delete files you don’t need anymore.

  • Remove programs that are no longer in use.

Most of us have icons on our desktop that we don’t use and aren’t really sure how they got there in the first place. Removing these type of programs from your computer frees up disk space to store or add other programs that may be more useful.   • Backing up your photos, music and files.

For most individuals, the computer has become the center of their life; you have your digital pictures, e-mails from friends, and this year’s budget. If you don’t have your information backed up on a different device or on CD’s and something happens to your computer, there may be no way of getting that information back.
