US Senate Declares June "Internet Safety Month"; Bsafe Online Does Its
Part Year-RoundBristol, TN, June 1, 2007 --(BUSINESS
WIRE)--By unanimous vote, Senators pass Senate Resolution 205 which designates
June 2007 as "National Internet Safety Month". The resolution calls on Internet
safety organizations, law enforcement officials, educators, community leaders
and parents to increase Internet education and safety efforts.
In honor
of Internet Safety Month, Bsafe Online wants to empower parents with the tools
to keep their families safe online every month of the year. Bsafe's Ultimate
Family Filter not only blocks pornography from the family computer, parents have
the option of blocking sites from 35 other categories including those having to
do with gambling, alcohol, social networking and more.
Bsafe's latest
feature, PredAlert, monitors instant message sites and chat rooms recording all
conversations to be viewed on the parents' monthly report. PredAlert also
notifies anyone contacting a child that they are being monitored and recorded as
well, usually scaring away any potential predators. The identity protection
feature also can limit or block personal information from being transmitted over
the web.
Even with tech savvy kids, Bsafe Online cannot be circumvented.
Bsafe Online CEO Joe Gregory says, "I'm pleased that the issue of
Internet Safety is being recognized by our lawmakers but I want to remind
parents this is a battle they must fight everyday with their children in order
to keep pornographers, sexual predators and cyber-bullies at bay. Bsafe Online
has been instrumental in keeping the Internet safe for nearly a decade and will
continue to do so every day."
Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, who voted
for the resolution says, "Internet safety starts at home, and we need to equip
parents with information and resources to protect their children from predators
and dangers online."
Bsafe Online recommends the following steps be
taken to keep children safe on the Internet:
-
Teach your child about responsible use of the Internet.
-
Keep computers in common areas of the house, never in a child's bedroom.
-
Know your child's online name. Never let them use suggestive names.
-
Install and use parental controls like Bsafe Online.
Bsafe Online was recently rated the best Internet Filter on the market by an
independent media review site as well as receiving the highest ranking
available by the National Coalition for the Protection of Children and
Families.
